(I'm aware of the Bellator thread but think this is a different topic) When Bellator first started out, it was exciting. It had small stable of young up and coming fighters. There was a tournament format to decide who got the title shots. It felt like MMA in its purest form. Then they started to tinker with things. They scrapped the tournament for title shots concept and started awarding them to guys they felt could get ratings. They started signing any former ufc fighter with half a name. In a ridiculous move, they cut their own undefeated welterweight champion, Ben Askren. But on Friday Bellator upped their game. They promoted a fight they billed as "two streetfighting legends" finally meeting. They ran footage of ILLEGAL street fights where kimbo slice savagely beats the shit out of old, fat, or old and fat dudes. They show the press conference where they're motherfucking each other, which isn't too uncommon, but they're also using the word nigga. I watched this with embarrassment for Bellator and for Spike for airing this freak show...but I thought, IF these two guys go into the cage and put on a good fight and maybe show a little skill, and embrace each other or shake hands afterwards...well maybe it can be turned into a positive. Then the fight began. I've never seen anything like it. I'm confident I couldn't do worse. Kimbo took him down, got mount....and did nothing for three minutes. This fucker was stood up from the MOUNT position....TWICE. By the end of round one, a round where neither guy seemed to do too much or exert themselves, it was apparent that both fighters were gassed out. They stumble through round two hardly doing a thing. And ditto for most of round three... Until the fat fuck with the worst haircut and color in sporting history, Dada 5000 (probably the number of illegitimate kids he's fathered) falls backwards, stumbles and faceplants....not from a blow to the head, but because he was tired. Bellator should put out a public apology for this 'fight' as they could have set the sport back to the 80s and the fucking sport didn't start til yhe 90s. Any people tuning in for the first time surely will not be back. And the whole street fighting legend angle was low class. Bellator should be very ashamed of themselves. Btw... Can you imagine if either of these frauds were in the cage with a real MMA fighter? Oh and you have to love Mike Tyson. How they could let him near a live microphone I'll never know.
