I listen to the Boulder station KVCU, but as with most college stations, it can be EXTREMELY hit and miss. Depending on when you tune in, they could be playing anything from Mississippi blues to incoherent ambient noise, and everything in between.

On the other hand, that's what makes it interesting. I have unearthed some of the coolest music in my library on this station.

Am I the only one who listens to college radio?

Not a college radio station, but Minnesota's NPR, The Current, is pretty good for music.

I forget how I found them, as I have never lived anywhere near MN.
    Check them out.

WFMU out of NJ -- not college but the preeminent free form radio station. Check them out, they play some amazingly crazy shee-it :)

WPRB -- Princeton University's radio station. Everything on the music sonicscape, and then some.

WWHP "the whip" in Farmer City, Illinois is an amazing station. I have heard so many artists I had never heard before. Fun! Could be Blues, Americana, Roots, real Honky Tonk. Etc.

Not a big fan of jazz (but much respect to those who are).

The second one sounds real good so far. Thanks!

I'll need a few days to check out all of the suggestions. THx again everyone. Love independent, freeform radio. I never listen to programmed shit simply because it is repetitive and it's based on numbers, not taste.

wbjb, Brookdale Community College's AltRok feed. Carrying on the legendary spirit of FM 106.3 WHTG, which was a pioneering alternative rock station with the tagline Modern Rock at the Jersey Shore. Commercial free, with NPR news breaks in the mornings.
