I find it sad that NASA is wrapping their space program up.
They aren't wrapping up the defense side.
Yeah but they aren't shooting cool shit into space anymore like they used to, right?
There is still a lot of cool stuff happening, it's just going to be robots.
That made me lol.
More people appear interested in it now than when it was being shot into space.
What did they build, a spaceship that can connect to the space station and then land back on earth.
I liked that nerd at the nerd convention who kept saying "space shul endeaver"
it's a wonder it didn't get jacked by some thugs.
you do realize we are on mars, right?
NASA isn't wrapping up its manned missions, they just gave the money to contractors such as the guys at Space X. The Space X folks will have a manned capsule ready very soon now and other companies have received money from NASA for various aspects of manned space flight. Even the Shuttle was an outsourced venture. NASA just manages the contracts. That being said, I would much rather see a person standing on Mars than some robot running about, but until people believe space exploration is a good idea the amount of money needed to do it right won't be forthcoming.
I find it sad that dozens of trees had to be mowed down just to pimp the shuttle across the country.
Obama ended the NASA we all grew up with. He did to NASA what his campaign is accusing Ryan of wanting to do to healthcare; privitization. We're hitch hiking to the iss through Russia and spacex isn't mature enou yet. I find it pretty sad that spacex basically scooped up all the old NASA employees that were terminated because of cuts... These guys should be national heroes, not office schlubs.
When planning the logistics of moving the shuttle, the agreement was made to plant 2 new trees for every one cut down. Besides... They're fucking trees.
Im pissed because new York got a shuttle and either Houston or Kennedy didn't.... The fuck?
the good thing is that they are making a concerted effort at outreach to muslim countries.
I'm sorry, but I don't know what the neighborhood in which you were raised was like, but tall, beautiful trees, ripped out and replaced with young saplings turns a calm, peaceful, relaxing neighborhood into one blinded by light; harsh, antiseptic, pale and sterile.
It's a stark contrast that really fucks up the way a neighborhood looks.
Yes, the other trees will eventually replace the ones ripped out, but to neighborhood kids who used to climb those trees, or to those who just enjoyed the peace of shade under one of them, it's an offense to their way of life.
Sorry, but I think if they asked the residents beforehand what the trip through their neighborhood was going to cost, I think many of them would've taken a pass.
The Cape is still launching rockets. I just watched one the other night. It didn't crash.
More of the clever trickery by NASA to make us think there's really a Space Shuttle program.
Obviously a fake.
