The Red Wings did this at Comerica Park (Really the new Tiger Stadium, I hate Comerica) last December. Can't even see the puck from those seats.

Yeah some of these seats at the game had no view of the game whatsoever. Especially down low, you could not see a thing on the ice. What's the point?

The Capitals played the Penguins a couple years ago in Pittsburgh and it was slightly too warm in Pittsburgh and made the ice really slow. Can't imagine how dull of a game it will be in LA.

The outdoor NHL games are great to watch on TV, not so great to actually attend the game.

The recent Detroit/Toronto game outdoor was also freezing like 0 Fahrenheit (-17 Celsius).

Super Bowl in NY and hockey in LA.

Yup, the world has turned upside down.

Yeah still don't get the LA outdoor game thing. Not going to be good for the ice. Will be fun for the goalies though with slower pucks coming at them. :snicker:

Oh I know it's money, but just not going to be great for the game, ice wise. Not sure of the forecast though.

They claim to be able to keep the ice at 22 degrees.

I guess they are playing an outdoor game in LA just because they can.

Damn it, there's no palm trees in hockey.

It gets colder at night in Chavez Ravine than inside any hockey arena, so the ice shouldn't be a huge problem.

Yeah if they can keep it that low; then go for it. As other poster said, it gets cold there at night it seems, but they are saying a low of 50 degrees. But you're right, there's no damn palm trees in hockey. :snicker:

The old Boston Garden used to get into the 80's during the playoffs. The ice would get really sloppy then.

Remember when they had to skate around to break up the fog?

    Ahhh, good ol' nostalgia...

Yeah, it's amazing how fast fog will dissipate when skating around like that. Always though that was amazing, seeing that when I was a kid. Doing it as a adult...not as amazing. :snicker:

They have been playing a lot of hockey at comerica, not just the wings alumni game. You can rent it out just like any other ice for 2200 bucks and supply a ref. They were also playing quite a bit of college and some pro, Plymouth whalers and grand rapid griffins games.

Pretty sure this year's NHL game between Detroit and Toronto was played in Ann Arbor at the football stadium.
