Stern related as he is the kiss of death for movie promotions.. plus I need a break from O&A stuff.

    ****************

Ladies of the Shed who have read Gone Girl... Will you see the movie version when it comes out in October?

I just saw the trailer... why oh why is Ben Affleck in this??? Wasn't the Nick character supposed to be late 20's or early 30's? Ug....

    Trailer...

Ohhh - he did Fight Club. Didn't realize he was involved with this... I may be able to stomach Affleck for 1.5 hours now.

I don't really ever want to see a movie in a theater again. I'm not paying to try to watch a movie while surrounded by retards who wont shut the fuck up and/or put their phones away.

Don't forget about the freakin ticket prices! In NY you're paying almost $20 to sit in a dark room surrounded by inconsiderate assholes!

I feel much the same as you, I very rarely go to movie theaters. I think I have been maybe 4 times in the last ten years.
Home systems are just too good these days.

I haven't been to a regular movie theater in ages. We have a cool little independent one here in the area that shows things you cannot see elsewhere. They serve really good food and have alcohol.

Cost of food + ticket + type of atmosphere seems to keep out the riff raff types. Never had an issue there like you see in normal theaters. :)

I couldn't make it past page two. Hell, the first two paragraphs made me want to throw the book out the window. It just didn't seem like good writing to me. Maybe it gets better. Lots of people like it, so what do I know.

The casting is odd. Aside from Affleck as Nick, his twin sister looks nothing like him. Sure they're fraternal, not identical, but there's zero family resemblence. The female detective is supposed to be very ugly, and is being played by a fairly attractive actress (Kim Dickens). Nick's attorney is a pale white guy who uses a spray-on tanning product, so he's being played by a blaek (Tyler Perry). :right:

The book was enough; I'll pass on seeing the movie, even for free.

As un-PC as this is, anyone here ever gone to the movies at a cineplex and when you walked into your theatre you saw a group of black people, and you snuck into a different movie because you knew they wouldn't shut the fuck up?

Gone Girl is next up on my summer reading list. I'm in the middle of the Leftovers.
