The location’s most famous resident was John Milton, the London-born poet whose most celebrated work is Paradise Lost

The spooky once elegant home where legendary British writer John Milton once lived has been photographed in its crumbling state by an urban explorer.

Pictures taken by an anonymous urban explorer show what remains inside this Berkshire location, called Berkyn Manor.

This place once housed some of the country’s wealthiest families over the past four-hundred and fifty years.

From deer-head trophies, to a classic Underwood metal typewriter, gramophone’s, a piano and an organ, letters dating back to 1956 as well as a copy of the Evening mail from November 1962 the building contains an eclectic mix of items.

The anonymous urban explorer who took these pictures described what it was like for he and his companion to explored the crumbling manor.

“On a cold November morning (3am) we snuck through the ‘dreaded bull field’ cameras and sleeping bags in tow” he said.

“Stories flying through my head about the raging ‘guard bull’ and farmers with guns.

“This night however we were lucky.

“We made it into the house and immediately have a quick scope of our surroundings, not wanting to be spotted by our torches.

“We would have to wait until first light before we could explore further.”

I hope the photographer was wearing a gas mask, there's nothing like breathing black mold spores!

I guess not (in the mirror), good luck with your recovery!
