    stupid.

led zeppelin clearly was a bit liberal with honoring their blues influences at times.......but this one is bullshit.

you can't copyright an Am arpeggio

Led Zeppelin are notorious for stealing from others. If you look at the writing credits for their first album, it is like eight pages long because of all the lawsuits they lost for stealing from others.

Zeppelin was one of the most talented bands of all time, but they were also one of the biggest thieves. They stole riffs and complete songs liberally.

I think you are being a bit liberal in your explanation of them lifting from others. Songs like "Dazed and Confused" and "Babe, I am Gonna to Leave You" were such an honor to the originals that they pretty much just copied the original song and changed some lyrics here and there without giving writing credits. They even kept the titles.

    Here is the song:

The part where Led Zeppelin is alleged to steal from really starts about the 45 second mark. It is pretty clear that Zeppelin stole it.

they were so flagrant that i'm almost convinced it was meant to be a tribute......blues guys at the time always played each others songs and stole licks.

but yes...they should probably give some credit now that the songs are so huge and well known. or did they? i think they did but it was because they lost a lawsuit.

the thing is that NO old blues guy had a drummer or a sound even close to Bonham.....Led Zeppelin completely invented a sound even if they stole a few songs, which was shitty of them.

It is a misnomer that that they just "honored" old blues men. They stole "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" from a folk singer named Anne Brandon "Babe, I am Gonna Leave You". They stole "Dazed and Confused" from a folk singer named Jack Holmes' song called "Dazed and Confused". Neither got credit for their songs originally and had to sue for royalties and writing credits.

Sorry, I really like Zeppelin's music, but they are absolute are criminals when it came writing their music. They stole from others. Plain and simple.

ironically their lawyers came down so hard on a then unknown director R Linklater for an indie film that wanted to use the song DAZED & CONFUSED, he had to use a Thin Lizzy song instead even though the film was named Dazed N Confused

The Beatles, Stones, Zep all appropriated American black music, the Stones were the only ones that gave credit
they were all great musicians, bands thoug
Page and Plant are just aholes though because they sue others for appropriating music they stole

Taurus' song is far closer to Stairway than Time in a Bottle although Croce's song is similar. But Zeppelin directly took the riff from Taurus' song. It is near identical.

the first time I heard that Flaming Lips record I couldn't believe that wasn't a Cat Stevens cover with different lyrics. it's identical.
