so i got called a hipster faggit and was told that i think i'm super fucking special and need special things, apparently like boots, for wanting a pair of new boots. i looked at some redwings (iron rangers...which are killer, but can't find them around here in the redwing store), some frye's (again...want to try them on before buying and can't do that easily around here), and a few pairs of chippewas. the chippewas were the least expensive and still had great reviews, are "handcrafted" in the u.s.a., appear to age well, and i could try some on around here. i have them on right now and i'm loving them. overall, i'd say they're a great introduction to this kind of boot. oh, now the big question is what should i do to protect or care for them right out of the box? i bought some leather protectant, but it looks like i should not use that for 2-3 months and i should use a leather oil/leather conditioner now. anyone with boot experience have any ideas? i really want these to get some nice aging going but also protect them from snow/water and salt.
