Howard would like everyone to think that he remained Letterman's go to guy for ratings right up to the end, we all know that isn't true but putting the last three appearances together really paints a picture of decline. His third to last appearance was easily beaten in the ratings by a Leno re-run and Nightline His penultimate appearance was bumped to Friday when Jennifer Lawrence became available and again lost to Leno. His final appearance even with the legendary Don Rickles (who unfortunately couldn't get in a word over Wiggy's incessant babbling) as a second guest was the lowest rated show of Letterman's final two weeks and the lowest rated Monday of Letterman's final month. Go to man, Howard was left off the final show as well, even though Hampton's pals Seinfeld, Baldwin and Barbara Walters were all there. Spin that Booey and Hein.
