If Limewire has cost the music industry millions of dollars how much has youtube cost them?

After a long battle with the music industry, LimeWire is finally getting squeezed.
A federal court in New York shut down the file-sharing service Tuesday following a judge’s ruling that found the peer-to-peer file-sharing website liable for a “massive scale of infringement.â€Â
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) said LimeWire has cost the music industry hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

Judge Kimba Wood ruled that record companies “have suffered – and will continue to suffer – irreparable harm from LimeWire’s inducement of widespread infringement of their works.â€Â
Wood called the potential damages “staggering,†and probably “well beyond†the New York-based company’s ability to pay.
Following the court ruling, LimeWire is currently restricted from allowing any searching, downloading, sharing or uploading of any copyrighted material.
The successful/popular/hated P2P website was founded in 2000 by Mark Gorton, a former Wall Street trader; LimeWire wold become one of the Internet’s biggest file-sharing sites.

They should just give up. They're never going to stop file sharing and they're wasting their time and money trying. Record companies are dead. Fuck em. They deserve it. And bands are doing just fine touring and selling ringtones and video games.
