The only thing missing from this picture is the original glazed.

My friends and I used to go to the block (southern California mall) and order a few dozen original glazed/mixed donuts. So good, especially if you have been drinking.

KK abandoned their nationwide roll-out and it really sucks. Now I really have to travel to get to the good stuff. No offense New Englanders, but Dunkin (which is god damn EVERYWHERE) blows chunks.

I am a donut-ologist. Homer Simpson calls me when he wants advice on donuts. Krispy Kreme ruined Dunkin' Donuts. It used to be that DD made their stuff fresh on site but in order to compete with KK they changed and began shipping en-mass from some giant donut factory. Much like Stern, DD traded their soul for a few extra dollars and it's all the fault of KK, the lowest common denominator in the donut world.

For an excellent taste and value try the 9 pack of Entenmann's soft donuts. 3 powdered, 3 cinnamon and 3 plain. True tasty goodness.

We clearly inhabit entirely different donut (or as KK says doughnut) planes of existence. DD stopped making decent donuts YEARS before KK started their big expansion, at least as far as this non-professional non-donutologist remembers.

I grew up with Dunkin, I'm pretty old, and my first Krispy Kreme was a freaking revelation. So my position stands.

And you've left out all the chocolate Entenmann's varieties which are, OF COURSE, the best ones. I can live with a classic chocolate enrobed, but the chunky cake ones (German?) are pretty darned good too.

Looks yummy, and suitably fat-packed. But I would really call a cheese "doughnut" a danish.

I have never been a chocolate donut guy so I will concede to your expertise on that point.

I still have the current souless DD rated over KK in the following categories...

Filled- DD's apple spice/apple crumb for the win.
Glazed- KK too thick and gooey
Plain-DD is crunchier and has a handle for...Dunking!
