New Bond speculation as Tom Hiddleston 'seen with 007 films pair'

The Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston sparked further speculation that he could be named as the next James Bond when he was reportedly seen meeting the franchise's producer and director.

Hiddleston was said to have been spotted with Barbara Broccoli and Sam Mendes at London's Soho House members' club, according to The Mirror.

The meeting comes a week after he told The Graham Norton Show that nobody had spoken to him about the chance to replace Daniel Craig in the coveted role.

He said: "The position isn't vacant as far as I'm aware. No-one has talked to me about it.

"I think the rumours have come about because in The Night Manager I play a spy and people have made the link."

Craig took on the role of 007 in 2005's Casino Royale and has made four Bond films.

He prompted rumours that his most recent outing, Spectre, could be his last when he joked that he would rather "slash my wrists" than make a fifth movie.

He said: "I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

However, in the same interview with Time Out magazine, he added a caveat, saying this would be his view for "at least a year or two".

A spokesman for Hiddleston confirmed to the paper that the actor was at Soho House but denied he had met Broccoli or Mendes, adding: "He was there with one of his non-industry friends."

Don't you mean a transgendered muslim James Bond, you disgusting fucking homophobe.

I have no idea what sort of faggotry this picture represents, but Hiddleston's been good in that Night Manager role.
I could see him being a credible James Bond. Craig has probably been the best since the Connery-Moore era, but he is rather one dimensional. He lacks the wry sense of humor that I loved so much about Connery.

Last year, they had all but given the job to Idris Elba. Then Roger Moore was attacked for saying something like, no one wants a black James Bond.

Hiddleston seems a bit on the gay/faggot side, no?

Until I saw High-Rise, which I dont recommend by the way (too esoteric and wanna be cerebral). If youre into dystopic end-of-the world scenarios, a movie like Divide is a much more straightforward, realistic portrayal of how quickly a society can and will crumble.

Nonetheless, I think he could make a decent Bond although IMHO, Bond should be slightly on the jacked and rough side vs pretty boy.

    No homo.

He was never actually considered for the part. It was purely an internet rumour that took on a life of its own.

Sir Roger Moore never made a direct reference to Elba's race... he said he'd be "too street" for the role, or something, as I recall. Didn't go over real well.

I'd be happy for Daniel Craig to stay on for another one or two... but please keep Sam Mendes far, far away from the director's chair. The hack writers, Purvis and Wade, are there to stay however, I'm pretty sure...

For clarification, here's an article on it:

Roger Moore denies racist comments about Idris Elba playing James Bond
Former Bond says interview in which he reportedly said Bond should be ‘English-English’ was taken out of context by both Paris Match and Daily Mail

Roger Moore has denied making racist comments about Idris Elba’s chances of replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond.

The 87-year-old actor was quoted by Paris Match saying: “A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jnr would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke!” He reportedly continued, “Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be ‘English-English’. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting idea, but unrealistic.”

    — Sir Roger Moore (@sirrogermoore) March 28, 2015
An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation.

The comments caused a Twitter storm of protest, with both “Roger Moore” and “Idris Elba” trending in the social network over the weekend. Elba, 42, is the bookmaker’s favourite to replace Daniel Craig and has received the current 007’s seal of approval. But Moore then took to Twitter to suggest he had been misquoted.

Moore also replied to a follower explaining his position. He wrote: “@FrediSmith when a journalist asks if ‘bond should be English’ and you agree, then quotes you saying it about Idris Elba it’s out of context.” He also retweeted another follower’s comment:

    — Jordan Edmondson (@Jordmondson1) March 28, 2015
Quote from @sirrogermoore didn't even mention @idriselba ,and does anyone find it wierd that DM added 'black actor' to the quote themselves?

Moore’s apparent initial comments drew outrage on Twitter, the boxer Lennox Lewis referencing the recent “whitewashing” controversy relating to Ridley Scott’s biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, though he appeared to mix up Christian Bale and co-star Joel Edgerton.

    — Lennox Lewis (@LennoxLewis) March 28, 2015
I heard #RogerMoore was misquoted. I hope so because I think @idriselba would make a great 007. What do u think?
    The broadcaster Piers Morgan wrote:

    — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) March 28, 2015
    Love @sirrogermoore & he's not a racist. He's wrong though - @idriselba would make a brilliant James Bond. http://t.co/gFutse3kmX
It is not the first time Elba has been at the centre of a row over his ethnicity and job options. In 2010 the star of The Wire and Luther was forced to defend his casting as the Norse god Heimdall in superhero epic Thor after complaints from a minority of shortsighted Marvel comics fans.

“There has been a big debate about it: can a black man play a Nordic character?” he told TV Times. “Hang about, Thor’s mythical, right? Thor has a hammer that flies to him when he clicks his fingers. That’s OK, but the colour of my skin is wrong.”

The controversy over Moore’s alleged comments comes after studios Sony and MGM released the debut trailer for new Bond movie Spectre late on Friday. Elba himself has not made any public comment.
