The new requirement for ownership includes writing an “essay” justifying the acquisition that must be approved by Taylor. In addition, prospective gun owners must take a gun safety course; five-day course approved by the city totals $1,100. Listen, I'm not a gun person at all or ever carried one, but it does seem weird they are asking US citizens to write an essay and to fork over $1,100 for something they have a right to have by the Second Amendment. I mean poor people will be locked out of defending themselves as $1,100 is a good chunk of change and WHAT CRIMINAL is going to write something bad in his essay? The criminal will just make up a nice essay. Also to be honest, criminals can get a gun within minutes for cheap and with no background check.
