A Burlington County man checked himself into the hospital Saturday after he claimed he was served raw chicken at a local Sonic restaurant.

William Dorsey of Lumberton, New Jersey told NBC10 he visited the Sonic restaurant on Route 38 in Hainesport, New Jersey Friday night and ordered chicken. As he began eating, Dorsey said he noticed something strange about the food.

“I noticed the chicken was really chewy,” Dorsey said. “When I looked at it closer I noticed the chicken wasn’t cooked at all.”

Dorsey said he began vomiting and tried several times to contact the Sonic restaurant as well as the corporate office.

The manager of the Sonic told NBC10 they were investigating Dorsey’s claim and planned on reimbursing him for the meal.

Dorsey meanwhile told NBC10 he checked himself into Virtua Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon.

There are nine Sonic locations within the greater Philadelphia area and more than 3,500 locations in 44 states, according to the company's website.

They planned on reimbursing him for the meal??? Try thousands if it's true for medical expenses, health monitoring, punitive damage and whatever else a lawyer can squeeze them for.

I call bullshit. Chicken nuggets? Does anybody really think each Sonic restaurant starts from scratch? That they really take raw chunks of chicken, dredge them through breading and then cooks them on-site?

Doubtful. Instead, you can bet Sonic chicken nuggets come pre-cooked in 10lb frozen bags. Dump in the french frier oil for a couple minutes...and done.

Yeah they might not have been properly thawed out before they went in the fryer. But like you say it was precooked and processed so there is no way he was vomiting. I have had fish at restaurants a couple times that were cooked but were still a little frozen in the middle. You just send it back and ask them to cook it some more. No need to make a big deal about it. Our society is far too litigious.

No matter what settlement he receives, there should be a clause that allows him to punch both of these guys in the face.

The majority of food poisoning in the US comes from under-cooked Chicken.

It is NOT something to take lightly.
People die from it every year.

Fast food restaurants are among the worst offenders.
