facebook is the only social media to suffer a decline last year, youtube, twitter, google & others all grew....Media titan Rupert Murdoch has even issued a dire warning, writing on Twitter this month: "Look out Facebook! Hours spent participating per member dropping seriously. First really bad sign as seen by crappy MySpace years ago." (Murdoch's News Corp. (NWS -0.40%) bought MySpace for $580 million, only to sell it several years later for a reported $35 million.)w.

voted as the most hated song ever by some, but songwriter Jimmy Buffett is strumming his guitar all the way to the bank.
That's because the song ranks as the most lucrative ever, thanks to Buffett's business savvy, notes BloombergBusinesswee‚ÄčkHis privately owned Margaritaville Holdings has spawned a business empire of 27 themed restaurants, as well as branded gear such as the $299.99 Explorer Cordless Frozen Concoction Maker. When might one need such an item? "Whip up frozen drinks right on your boat. Take it tailgating. Throw a bash at the beach," Buffett's site instructs.

I hate themed restaurants, dragged into a couple in myrtle beach, hard rock was one, they all suck, loud, terrible service, packed with shitheads & overpriced. I never have to enter another bullshit themed shithole.

looks like nj is the latest vicim, but will fit right in i'm sure..... Behind the image of a laid-back beach life, Margaritaville has big ambitions. No less than New Jersey Gov, Chris Christie opened the newest themed attraction in Atlantic City just last week. The $35 million complex not only features two restaurants but a beach-themed casino as well.

anyone ever been to one? Margaritaville doesn't release financial data, but the Orlando Business Journal reported that the company was earning about $100 million annually in 2007. Since that report, Buffett's anthem to flip-flops and porch swings has only grown larger as several more restaurants have opened in locations ranging from Honolulu to Nashville

It's just the latest sign that not everything is going gangbusters for Mark Zuckerberg's creation. As the company recently marked the anniversary of its flubbed IPO, another study found the site could have as many as 100 million accounts that are actually pets and brands

One-time Internet darling Facebook (FB -0.69%) might be fading, according to a report from the influential former Internet analyst Mary Meeker.

Mary Meeker was crowned the Queen of the Net in the late 1990s, when her calls on early Internet companies helped form the reputations of pioneers such as Netscape and eBay (EBAY -1.60%). She issues a report every year called "The State of the Internet."

Myspace was the most horrid social media platform since telephone party lines. I can't believe that people tried resurrecting it.

I can't remember who recently bought it but they paid justin timberlake to come in as a partner. I don't think they are getting a return on that investment.
