Hip hop mogul Chris Lighty -- the longtime manager of 50 Cent, Diddy, Ja Rule, and Mariah Carey -- was found dead this morning in NYC from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

According to law enforcement, 44-year-old Lighty's body was found by police around 11:30 AM in the backyard of his Bronx apartment. Lighty was pronounced dead on the scene, where a semi-automatic firearm was recovered.

The death is being investigated as a possible suicide.

According to sources close to Lighty, the hip hop mogul had been in an argument with his ex-wife and shot himself in the head.

We're told the couple got divorced last year and Lighty hadn't been the same since.

...agreed. i worked with an electrician that tried to off himself over a chick, disfigured the fuck out of himself and one day he didnt show up for work and one day turned into 2. long and the short of it is he finally succeded in ending his own personal suffering.

even if you lose a lot in a divorce the best revenge is living well. it can suck if you have kids for a long time but men dont cave, they win.

But a rich 44 year old black guy (thereby he looks 28) with major ties to the hip hop community should be able to pick up a hot rap video girl in 2 seconds.

...i knew a woman from the internet that we all posted together for years starting at the original court tv website. her daughter was murdered by her daughters boyfriend and then he killed himself. it was one of those if i cant have you nobody can deals. she was the sweetest funnest fun person to post with, started a couple of her own sites like this one for all of us. now she has a site dedicated to finding missing people. nice nice woman, i always felt horribly bad for her that she had to live thru such an awful thing but i admired her a lot at the same time for going on and enjoying her life.
