As usual, lawmakers have nothing better to do besides try to protect us from ourselves.

Massachusetts banned ATV use for kids under 14.
    It's called "Seans Law".

I'm tired of these do gooder laws named after dead people.

Can't we just face the fact, that not every piece of living human flesh will make it to the ripe old age? Bunch of pussies.

That happened in my town. Very sad.

That being said, I agree with the law. Kids aren't smart enough to protect themselves. If you had your way 8 year olds would be able to carry machine guns. Some parents think that if something isn't illegal, it must be safe. Obviously common sense should come into play but most people who have kids don't have any common sense. This law will save lives of many children who's parents aren't doing their jobs. Let kids ride their bikes and skateboards. There are plenty of other ways for them to get hurt that don't involve heavy machinery.

It's called "thinning the herd", and it works.

Oh and if I were into that sort of thing and insisted that my children do it, I would buy them one and take them out and let them drive them under strict supervision using every safety precaution possible. I think some parents just buy these things to get their kids out of their hair for a few hours.

Let the herd thin itself when it's old enough. Children shouldn't be killed off because their parents are stupid. Are you opposed to childproof lids on poison and pills? Do you use safety plugs in your outlets or do you think babies should learn about electrocution the hard way?

My kids have ATVs. It's the only thing that gets them away from the video games and computers.

Number 1 cause of death for kids is car accidents.

Can't keep kids all wrapped up in a cocoon.

How fucking dare you suggest that you know better how to raise your children than the government does?

    remember this?

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair.

The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club, Police Lt. Lawrence Valliere said. Police identified the child Monday as Christopher Bizilj (Bah-SEAL) of Ashford, Conn.

Police said Christopher was with a certified instructor, and they called the incident a "self-inflicted accidental shooting." The boy's father and older brother were also there at the time, a gun club member and school official said.

"The weapon was loaded and ready to fire," police Lt. Hipolito Nunez said. "The 8-year-old victim had the Uzi and as he was firing the weapon, the front end of the weapon went up with the backfire and he ended up receiving a round in his head."

why would you let an 8 yr old fire an uzi? some of these people who are most concerned about their right to own guns are the last people who should have them.

Just think. We used to ride our bikes without helmets. How did we ever survive?

I wouldn't. But apparently some idiot and "certified instructor" did. No reason the government should punish all parents or gun owners.
And being pro-gun, I have to say there's no reason for your average citizen to ever have the need to fire an Uzi, or anything else along those lines.
But hey, that's just my opinion. :D
But there's a lot of people throughout the country who might tend to disagree. But hey, at least the recoil can't shoot this little girl in the head with this bad boy.
