Maxwell's is closing down. The famous club in Hoboken, New Jersey will finally close to business after 35 years of serving the local community.

The iconic club opened in 1978 and has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in New Jersey in recent decades – featuring top bands such as Nirvana and Yo La Tengo.

Here is a video of Nirvana playing at Maxwell's in 1989:

If everyone that whines about a bar/club closing actually patronized the place then it wouldn't be closing. Also a business has to keep up with with the times or risk losing business and closing shop. Fuck 'em. :fil:

In this shitty economy and with its rise in alcohol consumption, it's actually a pretty remarkable feat to fail at a bar. :jj:

When I go to NY clubs it seems the younger crowd doesn't drink much....can't blame them with the prices...re-god-damn-diculous

They are mostly doing molly or some other shit...probably cheaper

After CBGB'S turned into a boutique for fags I have little use for nightclubs. Plus I'm old.
