my computer was screwing up. took it to data doctors and they found 94 viruses and removed 412 spyware and ad-ware. this is after 5 years of using this computer.

they told me that mcAfee doesn't do a very good job and recommended that i use their anti virus software. it cost me $279.00 to clean up the garbage. that seems a bit high to me but i'm not sure and i wasn't in the mood to shop around.

i think i'll buy some new anti virus stuff. any suggestions?

    412...:jj:

Uninstall Java and Flash (unless really needed), keep your computer updated, don't run as an Administrator, and most importantly don't install random programs from questionable sources ever. I don't even use an Antivirus but when I did I really liked Nod32 http://www.eset.com/us/home/products/antivirus/

Check out www.ninite.com. it has tons of FREE shit that is legit. You should never have to pay for antivirus, plenty of good free ones.

The only one you'll ever need.

Fuck all that 3rd party stuff, it's a scam. This has been keeping my computer 100% problem-free for years. For free.

    It's built-in in Windows 8 and onward.

I've run the combination of Avast, Malwarebytes and CCLeaner for years and never had a problem.

BTW, man they fleeced you at $279 to clean that up. I charge $25 to do it, have friends all the time bring me their computer to clean it up. Get those 3 programs and then start charging others, nice side business. :)

I can't even remember the last time I had a virus. Using no script, adblock, and common sense I have not had any problems for years.
