The only metallica i give a shit about died in 91'
Wow, Lars is completely bald now.
He looks like he's going to have a stroke workign the kick drums.
I don't like how the sound is mixed. I can't hear the bass drum and the guitars sound too thin.
Well, the fuckers are almost 50 years old now. Hetfield and I share the same birthday, 10 years apart - I'm going to be 39 August 3rd, so there you go.
Link doesn't work on my iPhone btw....
Jesus christ, Ride the Lighting came out almost thirty years ago. At what point does the music I listen to become "oldies"?
It's the Orion Festival in Atlantic City, NJ. I was gonna go too but changed my mind last minute. Oh well
Instrumentally this is one of the best bands ever. Vocally, live, they're fucking bad. Hetfield sounds great on the records - but he really holds back live. I'm checking the link out right now, reps!
Call of Kthulu live ... never thought I'd see the day. But I just tuned in, I guess I missed almost all of this A little rusty on that one, but still cool.
I saw them twice in '09, Boston & NYC. His vocals were decent. Considering the dude is pushing 50 and had played a gazillion shows in the past 30 years, I'm willing to cut him some slack.
Damn Hetfield is horrible singing Creeping Death. Yodeling, no surprise. Making fans sing half the lyrics. I'd love to see Metallica again but I couldn't handle the horseshit singing
I saw them back in 2000 twice, at the first Summer Sanitarium in KY and at a makeup show in Cinci. Hetfield was yodeling then too. He's been doing it a while, had pollups (spelling?) removed from his vocal chords after the Black Album tour I believe. He just can't deliver live anymore, his voice can't hold up. But still, this is one of the last great american rock bands.
My fav Metallica song btw. I'll never forget seeing this video, lead me to buy one of my first heavy metal albums
The song they're playing now - Escape - is great, really poppy for them at the time. Never heard it live. Awesome to hear
Load era Metallica?
Load isn't what most people would consider a heavy metal album.
Not exactly their best stuff, but Load was a better album than most of the shit you hear today. I saw them during their tour for Load. Fifteen years old and high as fuck, don't remember a thing from the show. Corrosion of Conformity opened for them.
That's when I started listening to them, was in high school
