NEW YORK (AP) — TV Land says it has cast "Seinfeld" star Michael Richards in a pilot for a prospective new sitcom.
The series, "Reggie, Reggie, Reggie," also would feature fellow "Cheers" alums Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman.
TV Land said Tuesday the pilot will be taped next week.
"Reggie, Reggie, Reggie" focuses on Broadway star Maddie Banks, played by Alley in blackface. Richards plays her limo driver while Perlman plays her assistant.
This would be Richards' first regular series role since his short-lived NBC sitcom aired in 2000. Before that, he played Jerry Seinfeld's kookie neighbor Cosmo Kramer on the wildly popular "Seinfeld" series.
In the meantime, Richards performed as a standup comedian. He lost his temper while being heckled at a club in 2006 and was caught on tape shouting the N-word. He later apologized.

 Why do any of the 3 of them ever need to work again? They were on the most popular shows of their eras. Did they really squander 10s of millions of dollars in 20 years? I don't get rich people. I'd just retire, buy an island, and never be heard from again.

Some people work at things they enjoy. Life can get boring w/o any work/play balance.

I guarantee you they all still get fat checks in the mail from Seinfeld. Doods either bored or still craves the limelight, like someone else we know.

Yes, the life is too good to say goodbye to it. That's why when these celebs throw out there they might retire and never do. Unless they can't get roles any longer. The fame, money, prestige, adulation, etc. is just to powerful to let go off. Plus, it's hardly "working" in the traditional since.

It's about time. Tracy Morgan attacked gays and lesbians during a standup act and didn't miss a day of work.
