ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Six Flags Over Texas says it’s a week away from launching an all new kind of ride, but only for a select few at first.

The “New Revolution Virtual Reality Coaster” opens for test rides Thursday, March 10.

Six Flags says it’s the first such coaster in North America.

CHECK OUT A VIDEO OF THE RIDE HERE

Riders will get headsets that send them into a 360-degree virtual world synced with the roller coaster.

Here are some of the ride features according to Six Flags:

-Experience the incredibly immersive world of virtual reality – now for the first-time on a roller coaster at 55 mph

-Fly high above the city in a futuristic jet fighter plane

-Perform daring aerobatic maneuvers at up to 5.9 G’s, darting between buildings and extreme aerial moves

-Loop head over heels as you battle the alien forces to destroy the Mothership and save the planet

Season pass holders and members get to try it beginning March 10. It opens to the rest of the public March 26.

Those headsets will be caked in puke the first weekend. People will be staggering off of the ride vomiting on folks trying to enjoy a candy apple. It's going to be beautiful.

The Harry Potter ride in LA is apparently fucked and making everyone yack their heads off. The one in Orlando made me fairly nauseous so 0 chance I'm going on that shit when I'm next in LA:

In the soon-to-open Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the only thing more valuable than a flying broom might be a damp mop.

Some riders reportedly are having trouble keeping their food down while testing the park’s signature attraction, opening April 7 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

TMZ is reporting that some Universal employees can't stomach Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which combines motion with video to convince riders they are soaring in and around the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The attraction is a near-replica of the one in Universal Orlando, save for one important feature: the Hollywood ride is in 3D.

Universal is not commenting on the reports.

The Cannonball Loop was as talked about by New Jersey residents as the theme park it could be found in.
Visitors to the theme park referred to the place by a litany of nicknames: Friction Park, Class Action Park, and Accident Park to name a few. Chances are if you grew up in northern New Jersey, you have heard of or paid a visit to Action Park. The Vernon, N.J., attraction was one of America's first water parks. Welcoming patrons from Memorial Day to Labor Day, it opened its doors in 1978 and first closed in 1996.

Many people who grew up during the original Action Park era fondly recall the fun times and recklessness. The dilemma, however, becomes evident when you consider the park's legal history. A reported six deaths and countless other injuries occurred on Action Park rides during its nearly two-decade run. A park employee was killed when his car on the Alpine Slide jumped the concrete track, and his head struck a rock. Multiple people drowned in the park's wave pool, which was also one of the first attractions of its kind in the U.S. In the course of a week, a teenage boy drowned, and a 27-year-old man died after he was electrocuted when stepping off a ride.

Of all the rides, perhaps the most talked about was the Cannonball Loop, which was a water slide that featured a full loop at the end. Those who saw it in person wondered if it was ever open and whether anyone actually tried it. The answer is yes,

"You hit the bottom, and then your stomach falls out, and then you get all disoriented," said Andrew Muhville, in Porges's documentary. "You come out, and you don't know where you are."

The slide looks physically impossible to ride without getting hurt — and it essentially was. Kids would leave the ride with chipped teeth, bloody noses, and other injuries. It was shut down almost as soon it was open.

The ride in question appears at the end of the following video.
