Was a regular listener back in the day who never listens to either of them since they broke up, and I'm surprised by how much I've been looking forward to this.

Will be interesting to see if they just pick up where they left off like nothing ever happened, or if the thing is a complete train wreck and they're hating one another again by the end of the evening.

I think they sorta hated each other for a long time. I expect that they will pick up right where they left off.

It will also be broadcast live on the MSG cable network. I believe they are broadcasting commercial-free since it is a benefit for the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

Heard some of the show on radio and Mike seemed to accuse Russo of prepping Howard about Mike. Did Howard ever interview Mike? Also Russo said Howard was amazing and has 10 million listeners.

I guess I just don't know who these "10 million" listeners are.

From 1998-2008 it was wall to wall met talk on wfan. It was torture. That was before Sirius and YouTube. If you were driving to work you have to listen to bitching about Armando Benitez or the mets third string catcher situation

I didn't start listening to WFAN until '97 and no matter how good the Yankees are, most of the baseball talk was about the Mets. Did they talk mostly Yankees before then?

I find both to be equally exciting. Mike and Mad Dog mean nothing to me.

Totally agree! There was some huuuuge NBA or NFL story a few months ago that I wanted to hear covered on that channel. I turned Russo on and he spent the next 2 hours talking about fucking women's tennis (not that mens is any better).

This was like the THIRD time this happened with me going to Mad Dog Radio with the gaywad tennis bullshit. So I officially tapped out on the show and haven't listened since.

I have NO IDEA who in that audience could possibly have ANY tolerance for that level of self indulgence. It was Howardesque.

Depends on who WFAN/CBS is contracted to broadcast at the time - they'll be irritatingly incestuous to their flagship team. NOW they have the Yankees - and it's flipped to that.

For ME - BOTH teams talk repel me. I'm a NATIONAL sports fan (root for other teams as well) - I don't play the NY is the biggest and best bullshit - as well as the biases that come with it.

If I want NBA talk - I listen to NBA RADIO. If I want NFL talk - I listen to NFL RADIO or Sirius Fantasy Sports. I rarely seek out MLB boring chat - but if I do, I'll turn the same fantasy channel or MLB RADIO.

If you're a REAL national sports fan - you shouldn't go anywhere near WFAN.

I'm not a national sports at all, I only care what the Yankees and their competition are doing. I mostly watch 90's nba and Barry Sanders Highlights on Youtube.

Then (unlike me) WFAN and ESPN-NY is perfect for you! Hearing Yankees or Mets middle-relief talk in Feb and March in a NY accent is indeed my Kryptonite. Not much better DURING the actual season either for me and my sports proclivities either.
