GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is open to the idea of using federal troops and the FBI to stop women from having abortions.

"I will not pretend there is nothing we can do to stop this," Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and an outspoken social conservative, said Thursday at a campaign stop in Jefferson, Iowa.

Huckabee addressed abortion again at his next stop in Rockwell City, Iowa, where a reporter asked him whether stopping abortion would mean using federal troops or the FBI.

"We'll see if I get to be president," Huckabee said, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

"All American citizens should be protected," he added.

On Twitter, journalist Matt Taibbi said he had asked Huckabee the abortion question.

The Huckabee campaign did not immediately return a request for more comment on what deploying troops or using the FBI to stop women from having abortions would look like.

Huckabee has long spoken out against abortion, and last year, he suggested that the issue was worse than the Holocaust.

"If you felt something incredibly powerful at Auschwitz and Birkenau over the 11 million killed worldwide and the 1.5 million killed on those grounds, cannot we feel something extraordinary about 55 million murdered in our own country in the wombs of their mothers?" he asked.

the guy is an enormous asshole. when he released a prisoner who then went on to kill a few cops, he barely apologized and remained in the public eye like he didn't fuck up hugely. he should have gone out of sight for awhile at least for his horribly bad judgement.

uptight fucker needs to relax :toke:

Seriously, who does he think he's appealing to? That's an audience more to the right than Ed Schultz is to the left and last I checked, Alabama wasn't a swing state... But they were ranked 50th in education level

No one should be listening to Mike Huckabee. Wish he would just go away.

This is why trump is doing so well... the other candidates are worse than him,and that goes for both dems and repubs, he picked the perfect time to run .If you look behind the trump bluster,he's actually far too left wing for a sizeable wedge of the republican party if you look at his policy positions. Hence the tough guy act.

What a nut the huckster is . Belongs in the cell next door to john mcloon in the insane asylum.

Will they go in with fixed bayonets to stop the terrified 16 year old who's been raped and impregnated from having an abortion?

Just out of curiosity have any of the other fine candidates on the Republican side spoken out against Huckabee's attack on the abortion rights of American women?

Man I can't wait until the religious wing of the GOP dies off so they can have a real chance to govern effectively and justly instead of pandering to the fucking religious wackos.

His position is no access to abortion, abstinence only education in schools and defunding Planned Parenthood and other public health (free contraceptive) programs.

I can't imagine what could possibly go wrong for young women with this plan....

Can't stand this douche. His show on fox was the worst. He would invite shitty bands on and then play bass with them. Talk about a pretentious self centered fuck. Can you imagine inviting a band on, "Yeah it will be great exposure for you young folks! Everyone will see you on live TV! EXCEPT for your bass player, because i will be playing the bass in your band for that appearance! How cool is that?!?!" Sure Mike, i am sure the bass player loved that. And I am sure the band, who was to be the focus of the performance, loved being overshadowed by the old dude in the suit trying to look like he fits in with the cool hip music playin folks! Fuckin douche. Step aside for a moment, let the kids have their moment....

Of course being in front of the camera for the 48 minutes of the show isnt enough. He had to shoehorn himself into the bands segment! A segment that only existed so this wanna be rock star could show off his bass skills, clearly!

I often hope for the same thing....but then I'm reminded about the 1960s and how we thought when the old farts from the 1940s die off everything will be better.

I chalk some of that up to most people just getting more religious as they get older and closer to the end. But I still can't figure out young guys like Cruz and Rubio who have this zealous Christian perspective and are trying to force all this nonsense on people. I mean....I'm older than Ted Cruz and he acts like a grampa from the 1930s. I just don't get it.

if it was illegal here, does any person think congress ppls and rich ppls daughters wouldnt go to another country for it?
it would just prevent poor ppl who cant afford kids, so who pays for them?
