What do you make of this? In one of the biggest deals in Canadian sports history, the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors has been sold to telecommunications giants Rogers Communications Inc. and Bell Inc. http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/news/local/article/173922--mlse-sold-to-rogers-bell-for-1b
Can't stand it. Especially with the Leafs. It was bad enough when they tore down the old Maple Leaf Garden but now they are completely commercializing the franchise.
I know, I forget that they didn't demolish it, but it was perfect for hockey, just like the old Chicago Stadium, probably the two best arenas in the world. Now the united center and air canada centre (with the e after the r so goat can let his OCD run wild) are sterile boring corporate buildings with as much charm as a hospital
Had a chance to see one at the ole Boston Garden too...that was a playoff game and so was the Blackhawk game, sweet deal
So many things about that place screamed old time hockey. Besides the feeling of history with the Hawks you had the Bears win a championship there for god's sake.
The Chicago tin is good too, their great cheese and caramel mixed. Tell your girlfriend to ask them to caramelize the cheese. It isn't on the list of flavors but they take the cheese popcorn and coat it in that caramel. It'll get your dick hard.
I signed my name on the wall behind the last row of Greys in MLG shortly after the Leafs moved, it would be awesome if it were still there. I didn't know it at first, but I met John Paul Roby about a year before the news broke that he was diddling children for over 20 years. It was during one of those Leaf Alumni games, so me and my buddy were cruising for better seats, and we happened to stumble upon his section. He had no problem with us taking a seat in his section, and even talked with us for a couple of minutes. At first I was like , but then the truth came out, and I was like . I think the guy's dead now, so all's well that ends well. The standing room seats were behind the wall above the Greys, and you had to peer through a little rectangular window to see the game IIRC. Also, I'll never forget the pissing troughs. It's great that the building will be preserved for decades to come, although they did remove the famous blue Maple Leaf from the roof a few weeks back.
The standing room only I remember were behind the reds at the one end of the rink...not sure where those ones you're talking about were
Our season tickets were second to last row in the second balcony. Two periods at the hawks' goal. right on the blue line, you could almost chalk a line. We always stood though in SRO. Best view, the way the rows were you were right on top of the play. Best times there.
