In case you thought only dogs are allowed on airplanes for emotional support you would be wrong. This woman brought a pot-bellied pig on a flight. Enough is enough. Some airline should file a brief to try to get a case to the Supreme Court. Can you imagine having to sit next to a pig or a monkey on a flight and I'm not talking about a fat woman or Gary. How the hell can you train a pig, monkey or horse not to take a shit on a five hour flight.

A woman was forced to leave a plane because passengers were being disrupted by her travelling companion - a pot-bellied pig.

The unidentified individual boarded the US Airways flight to Connecticut with the animal on Wednesday.

She took the creature, said to weigh up to 70 pounds, to her seat and then attached it to her armrest - but when it became disruptive flight attendants asked her to leave the plane.

Jonathan Skolnik, a professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst told ABC News today he thought the woman was carrying a duffel bag and headed straight for the empty seat next to him.

However he then realized he could smell the animal and noticed it was on a leash.

'The pig was walking back and forth,' he told the station. 'I was terrified, because I was thinking I'm gonna be on the plane with the pig

In 2012 it was revealed that the Department of Transportation had certain guidelines allowing animals, including pot-bellied pigs, could be taken on flights.

Along with monkeys and miniature horses, they could be designated as 'Emotional Support'.

Transportation officers would have to determine whether the animal is permitted on the plane by running through a list of guidelines.

Pigs are favored service animals for people allergic to dogs. Guidelines suggest they are intelligent companions and attuned to dangerous situations.

American Airlines, the parent company of US Airways, said the woman had the pig as an emotional support animal and was asked to leave the plane after it became disruptive.

The best yarn I’ve heard was the emotional-support turtle. The flight attendant was walking though the cabin doing her normal checks when she saw something on the airplane window. She approached the passenger and asked what she had there. The middle-aged woman responded, “This is Herman.” She pointed to a live turtle stuck with suction cups to the window. She added: “Herman likes to look out the window.”

On further inspection the flight attendant could see that the turtle had socks on all four limbs with little suction cups attached.

Insanity. If you need a goddamn pot belly pig for "emotional support," stay home, because you are an idiot.

Service animals should only be allowed for those with physical ailments -- blind, seizures, etc. No mental anything. (1) I seriously doubt there's even one person with a legitimate mental need for it and (2) even if there are, it's far too subject to abuse. Instead it's all narcissistic bullshit. I want to fly with my pet, so I'll find some quack psychiatrist to give me a bogus diagnosis.

Airlines (and businesses) are powerless against the juggernaut known as the ADA.

Scared shitless of the inevitable lawsuit which would result from denying these people their "rights" (I mean the ones who game the system).
