Hulu signed a deal for $180 million to show Seinfeld episodes. The money will be divided up between Castle Rock, Jerry and Larry David. Jerry picks up another $50 million and he doesn't have to take calls from BoBo.

I liked it fine enough at the time, but I can't believe Seinfeld's enduring value. I think it's aged horribly if you try to watch an episode now

At least Howard will be able to cash in when Beth sells Mom Caves to Hulu

This will make Howard want to jump off a building. He couldn't sell old THSS episodes for anywhere near that.

"Ruh...Robin, 35 fuuuucking years of ground breaking radio every day. What'd Jerry do? A 30 minute TV show 22 times a year for less than a decade. Radio is the worst entertainment medium on the planet. Right Robin? Look at these TV guys raking it in for doing nothing. Yet, here we are in this industry surrounded by losers."

:haha: The only controversy there is that's if AMAZON, NETFLIX, CRACKLE, & WB have anything to say about it. This bidding war will rival when LeBron signed with Miami.

yeah but the show has been in heavy syndication for years in the STATES. Even at the bottom end they are still collecting $. Say a writer wrote 10 episodes even in year 18 of syndication they are getting 5% of minimum for having written the show say that minimum is 1000, Then that's $50 x 10 that's 500 if they repeat that show 3 times a year on ONE network thats 1500. This show is on 3 different Networks (TBS, WGN, on other) then that's 4500 that writer gets this year minus agent fees and taxes for something he wrote nearly 20 years ago.

Now if your an actor who appeared in EVERY episode of the show Thats 4500 x 18 8100. People Like Dreyfus Alexander and Richards are on another scale. They are making 5 to 10x that.

Now inf comparison to 50 million that is paltry. However considering they have been collecting paychecks for 20 years. It adds up to them not having to work for shit the rest of their fucking lives.

I bet when they were going to auditions (maybe not Dreyfus she, or her father, is a billionaire) they would have LOVED to know they were going to collect 4500 every year for SOMETHING until the day they died.

Wile the stories and that ONE Seinfeld Episode are TRUE about actores getting reisual Checks for pennies. That is FOREIGN syndication stuff. When your show runs in the states on TBS NICK WGN ect you get paid on a different scale.

For example Lisa Kudrow is being sued by a manager or agent of hers that she fired at some point and he is only asking for a portion the syndication revenue Kudrow is due and it's 10s of millions of dollars and that is only his 10% take on it the loot.

I used to be the biggest fan. Watched every episode more times than I care to admit. If I happen upon it now, I can see through it and am almost embarrassed that I loved it. And the whole 'show about nothing' is a strange myth. Every episode had a plot and it was an ensemble show. Terrible finale. If they really wanted to punish the characters, they should've given them community service. Would've been more satisfying. Cheers was a better show, even in it's later seasons. End rant.

In some ways it has but I still think it's funny. But why pay so much for something that's on every day on cable? Not only is it on daily, but by now people have to be sick of it.

I thought every episode had four plots - one for each of the main characters.

Cheers stayed good until the end. One funny episode I recall (from the last season?) was when Sam went to sexaholics anonymous and a hot chick was talking about how insatiable she was to the group. Once she finished, Sam asked her if she wanted to get a coffee afterward. :jj:

Especially Seinfeld! It's like Friends and Two and a Half Men: they're impossible to miss; they seem to be on every channel.

At this point I'm disappointed with Netflix. They aren't on a spending frenzy like Hulu is.

Jerry and Larry supposedly split 25% of the profits. They are the show co-creators and get a piece of the pie.

On top of that J&L get writers guild residuals and Jerry gets acting residuals
