Briana Travis is accused of having sex with a minor several times between June 1 and Oct. 15, 2015, Grindel said. Travis, a music teacher from Daniel Webster Middle School in Waukegan, had been charged with 13 counts of criminal sexual assault involving a victim between 13 and 17 years old and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, authorities said. Each count of sexual assault carries a possible prison term of four to 15 years in prison Travis, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, has been in Lake County Jail since her Oct. 16 arrest. Bail was initially set at $1 million but was later reduced to $750,000. An investigation began when a parent contacted police about inappropriate texting between a student and the music teacher, according to Waukegan police. Travis was charged "after she began to reveal details" about an inappropriate relationship with a minor, who was not the student whose parent initiated the texting complaint, authorities said.
