Deputies: Trio spent Alzheimer’s patient’s money, sending her home into foreclosure

Bonnie Mae Pierce, John Hyatt, and Renee Sigel were arrested and booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.

SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — Three Pasco County residents are accused of taking money from the bank account of an 81-year-old Alzheimer’s patient, causing the victim’s home to go into foreclosure.
Investigators with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office say Bonnie Mae Pierce, age 62, Renee Sigel, age 51, and John Hyatt, age 51, used money from the victim’s bank and credit card accounts to pay their own personal bills. The trio also allegedly bought a lawn tractor, clothing, costumes, alcoholic beverages, gasoline and other personal items with the money and credit cards.
The suspects stopped the female victim’s bank, credit card and mortgage payments, which caused her home to go into foreclosure, according to the PCSO.
Pierce, Sigel and Hyatt were arrested on charges of exploiting the elderly. Each suspect was booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center with bond set at $20,000.

Again, it's always the Big 3 I suspect before clicking on the thread.

Ohio (win), Florida (place), or South Carolina (show).

    2nd place!

These elder abuse stories break my heart. How morally bankrupt must you be to take advantage of a mentally incapacitated senior citizen?! :wtf:

My mother's away visiting my sister and when I go over there to water her plants, the phone never fails to ring with a "charity" or scam coming up on caller ID. I actually picked one up and it was the "IRS" saying she owed them money and had to pay IMMEDIATELY or...blah blah. I told the guy he was a lying POS and he laughed and hung up.

And that's just in the twenty to thirty minutes or so when I'm actually THERE.

Pest control companies do this shit all the time they tell some 90 year old women she has termites then charge her thousands of dollars and not even do the work. They basically lie and try and scare them into taking service and it works more times then not it drives me fucking nuts when i hear this shit

    It is fucking infuriating.

My friend's parents got taken in by the driveway pavement scam (guess the state--yep). He was so furious that they didn't call him as soon as these people showed up at the house (he lives down the street) that he couldn't speak to them for a week.

And my neighbor's mother here in MA got a call from her late husband's "insurance company"--they'd trolled the obits and saw that the company he'd worked for had Travelers Insurance. So they tell her on a Saturday that she had to send them $$$ (something like $2,500) by noon or all her insurance was cancelled. She had the sense to call her kids but none of them was around. So off she went to Walmart to get the money order, and the clerk there refused to do it b/c she smelled a scam.

My neighbor and her brothers went down there to personally thank the woman & gave her a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. So that's one story that ended well. One in a million unfortunately.
