Today's dark, dreary weather got me thinking of comfort rituals as a child. I could build one bad-ass couch cushion fort out of a lot of cushions, pillows and freshly-folded blankets and bedspreads (to my mother's chagrin). I could hide in there for hours, with nothing more than my dog, my books, a little china tea set and perhaps a fruit roll up or two. Did you ever make a couch cushion fort? Have a tree house? Have another secret place to get away from it all? Why don't you share a little? ;)

I'd prefer a picture of your pug, Chriza, but that will do too. ;)

Used to hang out at an abandoned Beech-Nut factory that was a few blocks from my house.

That was the best. My kids will do that every now and then. Coffee tables, chairs, cushions, blankets, it's all up for grabs. You ever make a spider web in your room with yarn???

I would build forts out of sheets and pillows and blankets as well.

When I was a kid, I would go through these weird phases. One winter, I lived in my brother's closet for close to a month. I put a little black & white TV in it. I would sleep there, do my homework, and take my meals in there. I also lived in my own closet, but his was roomier, so I liked it better. I also wanted to live in a tree. :)

I would hang out in huge cardboard boxes if my parents purchased a large object until it fell apart.

There was a tree house in the neighborhood where I grew up. All the children would hang out there.

same here except for the closet part. :jj:

Did anyone else ever find porno mags in the woods??? We had bike trails and tree forts in the woods and would always manage to find some fuck-books in there. It was awesome as hell at the time but seems really weird now.

Broken windows, rusty metal and a cool spiral staircase that went to the top floor.
