Around 9 this morning I log into Dawgshed & read the usual posts by everyone here on The Stern Forum. Then I went to the Gil & Frank podcasts that I’d been saving for my wife. Which she never finds time to listen to with me. She’s down in the city for Mother’s Day. My mom died about 10 years ago. I decided, fuck it- I ain’t got no mom so I ain’t celebrating no more Mother’s Days. Especially in honor of my Mother-In-Law. Who I love. Plus –dealing with the train from up here filled with giggling college girls? Count me out. So I’m eating some kind of health food store cereal my wife bought me and drinking morning coffee. I click on my podcasts folder on my iPad. Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast. First one I come to that I haven’t heard after waiting for months is the one with Carol Leifer. http://sideshownetwork.tv/podcastsEpisode.cfm?podcastid=104&episodeID=6950 I love this woman. I absolutely have adored her most of my life as an adult. And a white man. It’s an awesome interview. Stories about SNL, what a shit hole Dick Ebersole was. .. etc. Then I sat down in the den with the obscenely large HD screen & went to Netflix & couldn’t find shit to watch. Wound up watching an old HBO special on VHS I recorded back in 1986 with Andy Kaufman -Catch A Rising Star 10th Anniversary Special. A 90 minute deal with Belzer, Robin Williams, and Gabe fucking Kaplan and finally Andy comes on. Off stage, in with the audience is Bob Zmuda. He’s a heckler. He’s messing with Andy, giving him grief. It captures my imagination. So I went back to my iPad and watched another episode of Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast. This one was with Bob Zmuda. http://sideshownetwork.tv/podcastsEpisode.cfm?podcastid=104&episodeID=6568 And it’s going fine until about 1 hour 10 minutes into the show he does a fake “call-in” as Tony Clifton. Plugs his new book on Andy & declares that Andy faked his own death. But Gil & Frank are wonderful and accommodating. The interview is filled with wonderful anecdotes. I had a wonderful time. After that I watch a Tommy Lee Jones/Hillary Swank masterpiece on Netflix called The Homesman. Awesome movie. It’ll make you weep like an old woman at a graveside. Plus it’s action packed with fist fights & pistol drawing stuff. After that I thought… well. Shit. So I had downloaded an old movie from a “torrents site” called “The Aristocrats”. If you’ve never heard of it before shame on you. Standout appearances by George Carlin, Taylor Negron, Alan Havey, and scores of others. Sarah Silverman... But Gilbert Gottfried nails it dead to the wall like Jesus. God I just finished watching it- this is the 2nd time I’ve seen this film and he’s so awesome. So that’s how I spent Mother’s Day 2015 –with Gilbert Gottfried. I hope your Mother’s Day went as well.
