About to change password for the fourth time in three weeks... I get email bounce-back messages for email I never sent. A couple friends wrote to say I've been hacked. Seems like they are using my email to send ads to people I know, and people I don't know, who are maybe on my friend's email lists?
Was hoping some smart folks on here could explain this phenomenon and advise how to make it stop.

Change your password from a different computer and see if it stops. They are probably watching you change it and just getting the new one.

Attempted some virus scans I hope? Download and install Malwarebytes then run it. Good, free software.

Any kind of option for extra authorization from your email provider? For instance, my email requires a special code sent to my phone if it detects a new sign in location.

Great software. I pay for the real time protection. It's cheap and catches things overly bloated software like Norton or Mcafee misses. But yeah, the free is fine to remove an infection.

I'd also suggest clearing your browser's cookies.

Thanks for all the advice, and humor.
Malwarebytes won't work with my antique browser.
It seems to have calmed down, but I just bought something with a credit card. Luckily I'm so poor they could only get like seventy bucks.
Spooky to think I have monitoring software, and they can see everything I do... (porn)

I can help you. Just pm me your user name, password, social security number and the answers to all your security questions...

Have it fixed in no time. While you wait, do you mind helping my friend chamboka? He's a Nigerian primce that's looking for American banking info to deposit his fortune so he can defect to the us. He said he'll
Give you a slice of you give him the digits...

At this point, if he's got some kind of keystroke logger, the only proper answer is to nuke it from orbit and wipe the entire system and reinstall the OS.

I found your problem and put it in nice bold letters for you.

Firefox, Chrome, Opera, any of those are better than running IE 6

use gmail and turn on 2 factor authentication... requires the password and a code sent to your cell phone via text. It can be hacked but you would have to have a carrier that uses SIM and they would have to call, pretend to be you and get the sim changed to use in their phone so your texts would get routed there

It's called spoofing....you likely haven't been hacked. Very common practice with spammers etc. I wish I had a dollar for every time somebody called me complaining they've been hacked....
