I always enjoy other posters cooking threads, so here is my attempt at making one.
I make this potato and ham soup for Real5322 once a week. It's our favorite.
Theres no exact measurements for this soup, you can use more or less of whatever you like or happen to have on hand. I will give a general idea of how much to use.

Start by cutting up 5 carrots...

    And 5 stalks of celery...

And one onion (the "quick chop" went in the garbage shortly after this picture, thing sucks!)...

Peel potatoes, how many depends on the size of potatoes but should be about 2 or 3 cups when diced.

Dice the potatoes, I like them to be small pieces.

Add all the veggies to a large pot.

Add enough water to cover the veggies. In my pan it's usually about 8 cups.

Add two cups of diced ham to pot with water and veggies.

Set stove on high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn to medium heat and cook for about 15 mins or until potatoes are soft. Next add chicken bouillon according to directions. The stuff I use is one tablespoon per cup of water.

It looks kind of like how I make my pea soup. Minus the peas of course.

Melt 5 tablespoons of butter over medium heat in a separate pan.

Whisk in 5 tablespoons of flour (one tablespoon at a time, whisking constantly). Let cook for a few minutes, but keep stirring!

Slowly whisk in two cups of milk. Heat until it becomes thickened.

Add the milk mixture into the large pot. Soup is ready!!!
I like to top mine with a bit of sour cream, shredded cheese, hot sauce and black pepper.
