I talk privately to posters I have as friends here, but thought I would give some insight as to what's really going on here. There is no freak out going on. Germans are very concerned. But very understanding, caring people. They understand their countries past, and understand how it will look if they don't take in the refuges. I'm not here to debate world politics, but what I am seeing first hand. The government goes to all hotels. They have the choice to say say no. Pro of saying yes, 6 months paid in full, with food budgets Cons. Locals won't come. Lose local business and if you have a restaurant they won't come either. I'm at a hotel In Germany that has no wifi.( Using data). She is Thai, married a German. He died in a terrible accident. His parents try and try to steal this hotel from her. Nope! Works her ass off, so her kids have a legacy. That's why I stay here. I can get a nicer hotel, but she's a worker. She will NOT let anyone in with out a job. Even though she desperately needs the money. Then there is a 4 star hotel I stay in that folded. He will make more renting to refugees. He gets the money. Closing his restaurant. He claims it's easier. They can't work on the books but they are like our beloved Mexicans. Doing the hard work. Getting white asparagus. It's a back breaking job. Sparkle! Delicious! I wish more Americams traveled outside their comfort zone. It's wayyyyy less scary In Europe then Trump-vile. My point. It's not as bad as the media is saying. Germany is very safe. And full. Of beer and potatoes.
