my Mom was a shitty cook.
as kids, when we got Swanson TV dinners for supper, we considered it gourmet cooking.
my mom couldn't cook those. she always made them so that the entree was cold.
once time she tried to make stuffed cabbage and didn't cook the rice first. she had a fit when the meat, rice and cabbage started expanding and climbing up out of the pot like it was alive.
Awwwwwwwwwwww! There's just some shit we aren't all good at in life. Can't be good at everything.
I still suck at pretty much every sport you throw at me. But I can make a mean lasagna.
My mom is a killer in the kitchen. I only acquired a fraction of her expertise. A fraction of a fraction.
No clue how to bake........but I can cook.
I keep trying. I can now make a killer pecan pie, and just a bit ago made homemade buttertarts. They were nowhere CLOSE to my mom's. But pretty good.
You once gave me a recipe for chicken and dumplings. Everyone loved it, but I can't find it now.
I still have it. But I refuse to give it to you again until you talk to me.
How's life, sunshine?
Doing ok Slippy, I've been working. How about you? What's doing in the PP dept.?
i try to learn because i just can't stand processed foods anymore, but when i was a lid that was all my mom could make (just not tv dinners).
My Mom made good fried chicken. My wife, when she has time, is also an excellent cook.
Pre-kids we used to make some fairly gourmet stuff. She subscribed to Bon Appetit when seemed to glory in having at least one totally obscure ingredient in every recipe.
My daughter likes to bake. She really makes excellent cakes from scratch. I wish I could eat more than just a few bites of her cakes and pies.
you can be a pretty decent cook just by following instructions and caring a little
Buttertarts sound good...
