What are you replacing it with? I hope you are going with Linux.

I tried ubuntu once awhile back, it kind of feels like writing with your left hand if your a righty, BUT it was clean and fast, just didn't have time to learn at the time. I tried 7 for a week and it wasn't for me, it felt bloated and clunky, and i saw windows 8 videos on YouTube...FUCK THAT!

might aswell learn now instead of in 2014

I love my Ubuntu machine. Stable, fast, not bloated. It's too bad more people haven't found it.

I'm about to retire my 7 year old XP equipped Sony VIAO desktop replacement. When I bought it in 2005, it was a powerhouse with a whopping 1 gig RAM that could expand to a staggering 2 gigs! I did a image transfer to a new hard drive 2 years ago and it picked right up from where I shut it down before the replacement, and it's still going strong.

But now in the modern age, I just picked up a new rig with a touch screen, Win8-64 i7 and 16 gigs of RAM. After ironing out the bugs with my home network feeding my HD WD Player, it's time to put the XP rig out to pasture. :(

With Win8, you'll probably need all 16 gigs.

Yeah, I've been tweaking it and shutting down all the active shit running in the background. I have only mixed feeling about Win 8 now that I've been working with it for a week now, it does alot of things that annoy and inconvenience me while I work.

I switched to a Mac 4 years ago. Best decision I ever made. No more wasting time on bullshit trying to fix things and make them work.

I believe it's 77 virgins, but I may be wrong.

When you get annoyed with the Unity UI in Ubuntu, have a look at LinuxMint. LinuxMint also installs (by default) some of the so-called "non-free" things that make your CD/DVD and other videos work "out of the box". The last time I used Ubuntu this was not the case.

If you like the look of Mac OSX, but aren't ready to go the hackintosh route, take a look at Pear Linux:

Here, here! I'm a five-year convert. No issues whatsoever. I read all about the new Windows updates, software changes, upgrades, patches, alterations, etc. and it boggles my mind why anyone would put up with such time-consuming headaches.
