Off the top of my head:

Brian Setzer (three different times)

Motorhead

George Thorogood

James Burton

Tom Petty

Joe Bonamassa

Got kicked out of the backstage in Sacramento during the Family Values Tour in 1998 by some of Limp Bizkit's guys. They don't seem to like when you and your drunken buddies make fun of Fred Durst and his shitty music. :cheer:

Tom Petty (twice) :cheer: - the band would always come eat at Ruth's Chris before a show and they'd hook us up.

Jackson Browne :dontknow: - same as above

Buck Cherry, The Killers, Kings of Leon - they played a nightclub I worked at

Depeche Mode in 2 weeks

Man, I fucking want to see AC/DC. They're on the top of my list for bands I have to see before I die. Hope they tour again at some point.

Motorhead was fucking awesome. It was nuts, I got to go backstage and hang with them for about 20 minutes before a show. I was part of a small group and everyone wanted to talk to Lemmy. When I got the chance, I mentioned how much I like his Headcat albums, and he got really interested in talking about rockabilly. We spent about ten or fifteen minutes talking about Eddie Cochrane, Buddy Holly, vintage amps, guitars... I remember thinking how I was actually backstage with one of the all time bad asses of metal, and that he mostly wanted to talk early rock n roll. Really cool guy.

Yeah he seems like a very cool cat during interviews, have you seen the biography/film based on him?

This guy is like a true giant in Rock, he plays Bass like a guitar....it's hard to explain really, he strums it while playing chords over Phil's rhythm....very unique and different!
The amount of women his slept with is the stuff of legends :giggle:

Very cool you saw them :lo5:

As a young'n, I was the photographer for my school's concert promoters and got to meet or photograph many legends and near-legends. I recall Frank Zappa posing backstage by reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his pocket comb and placing it over his mustache. That image went into the school (Brooklyn College) newspaper. Got to meet groups like Zappa, Harry Chapin, Hot Tuna, Chicago, The Turtles, John Sebastien, The Beach Boys, Freddie Prinze (not Jr.) and others.

A friend and I went to an 80s rock concert back in the early 90s... Cheap Trick & REO Speedwagon were headlining. During the REO part, a burly guy came up to me and said that the band wanted to meet us, and invited us backstage... We went, & they were the nicest guys.. ended up going to Fat
Tuesdays with them, & signing autographs with them. I had just started nursing school, & they were joking that I could be their private nurse on tour. :) They were already in their 40s & early 50s at that point, so of course to me, they were ancient. But the nicest guys. :)

My sister was a DJ at a classic rock station in NC back in the early 90's. She used to nab backstage passes all the time.

I went along with her once to meet Melissa Etheridge in Raleigh during her, "Yes I am," tour. Melissa was very nice...and short. She signed a CD for me and posed for pics. She told us she hoped we enjoyed the joy (we met her before she went on stage) and mentioned she would be playing a local bar later that night after the gig.

It was pretty awesome.

...carlos Santana. he was called Santana blues band then, this was before the first album with the lions head. he was the house band in a converted safeway store and during band breaks we (me and 2 or 3 friends) would corner him in the snack bar while he was getting a coke. super nice guy for real. met the grateful dead way back in the day. bob weir was really outgoing, the organ player pigpen was a bona fide anti social. he wasn't into talking to anybody.

Why would you wish for such a great band to be woken up that early just to go into an interview where the old lady conducting the interview has no idea who she's talking to?
