NBC airs The Voice from 8 pm to 9:01 pm. Is this trickery to boost AGT Ratings?

So I've noticed that NBC has been airing the Voice to one minute past the hour mark the last couple of seasons.

Is this when ratings are checked to see who changes the channel to boost the next show's ratings? In this case AGT?

It completely messes up the DVR if you are taping two shows the next hour.

IF this IS the case...then do the ratings truly reflect what number AGT comes in for the night?

I doubt there is trickery due to $$$$$ that company's pay for commercials. I assume they probably get precise numbers on who and when a particular demo is watching a show.

tons of shows are doing this now, on Sunday my DVR has a nervous breakdown with network and basic cable hijinks

BTW---AGT had very good numbers for the repeat, 1.2, and for the record--The NBA Finals were down 21%

My DVR never has a problem because it is 2013.
What else are you babbling about?
How did the Family Guy repeat do in the key demo up against AGT repeat?

Nielsen takes ratings every 1/4 hour, so at least that kind of fuckery won't fool the advertisers.

"Robin, I don't get what NBC is doing. How are they going to build an audience when they keep changing the time the show is being aired. This is why the ratings are in the toilet. People are going to tune in at 9PM and see The Voice and change the channel."

Game 2 of the NBA finals last year was on a Thursday this year on a Sunday, that's comparing apples to oranges as the day of the week has a huge effect on the potential viewership.

Alex, the question is "What do you get when you replace Howard Stern with Piers Morgan?"

Tens of millions wasted on Stern to chase AGT fans away!
Howard scheming and plotting to blame others is why I watch and listen to Stern...:jj:

Most networks do this shit now.

Fucking drives me crazy when I try to record a baseball game and get a conflict error and discover it's because one program runs one minute past the top of an hour.

I feel like blowing my mind up!

That's so they can add the dismal ratings of the first showing with this second showing and then declare that the show was a ratings hit! :yay:

They will conveniently forget to mention that it was aired twice.

You're right. A good friend of mine from college is an ad exec in LA and I ask him these types of questions all the time. Neilsen measures by 1/4 hour traditionally, so if a program runs until 9:08, then that show is considered to be the show in that 15 minute period. For network ad sales, they actually measure the audience who watches the commercials only; the program itself is irrelevant. NBC's "The Voice" running until 9:01 allows the network to go "seamless," meaning they will just go into the next show (America's Got Talent) without a break, hoping viewers will stay. It's a strategy networks employ all the time to help a new show or struggling show gain additional viewers.
