Howard said NBC was grooming him to take over late night TV.

:pray:Please let this mean Seth Meyers is finally leaving SNL! He was the worst, most overrated "head writer" that show ever had; he "wrote" that show right into the ground with the repetitive, unfunny sketches and characters, not to mention letting it turn into The Kristin Wiig Show the last three seasons she was on. Someone needs to tell him not every cold-opening has to make a political statement, and that "monologue"= "solo"--not a question-and-answer with faux "audience members" and "banter/hijacking" by castmembers.

I know, I know--"Y U mad?". I just remember when this show was can't-miss funny. And I'm not talking about when it premiered almost 40 :)eek:) years ago; I mean as recently as five years ago. Kind of reminds me of another once-funny, arrange-your-schedule-around-it show...:bigthink

Seth Meyers will begin his 13th season on SNL in the fall -- That dude who did Clinton holds the record at 14 seasons -- and he'll leave after Christmas to start his show in February.

For my money, MadTV was better than SNL from the day it hit the air. I wish they had canceled SNL and kept it on the air. I also wish someone would have given Norm a shot at a late night talk show (with Artie as his Ed MacMahon), that mid to late 90's cast was the last good one for me.

I don't hate Meyers as much as you do, but there should be a 7-year limit on staying on the show. (Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg left last year after their 7-year contract was up).

After 7 years, you should be moving on to something else. (Fred Armisen and Kenan Thompson have been there more then a decade.)

If you're not moving on to something else, you're not happening. It's time to move on.

By the way, Jay Thomas auditioned for this show years ago, I would have much rather had him over Fallon or Meyers.:dontknow:

Robin: " NBC has announced that Seth Meyers will be taking over for Jimmy Fallon when he takes over the Tonight show from Jay Leno in 2014..."

Howard: "That scumbag Jay...I can't wait for him to be gone...You know Robin, NBC begged me to take over Late Night. But I just don't have time to do that. I have AGT and this show already. Imagine doing that show? Anyway, I'm not a 12:30 guy. I'm your main guy. If NBC had any balls, they'd have me take over for that fucking Jay Leno. I'd show him what a good interview is like. Anyway.....they offered a ton of money, but I said no."

That's right- go get your shine box, Howard- you worthless cocksucker- your Q-rating is down at the Carrot Top/Billy Crystal/Billy Idol level.

Does anyone still enjoy late night tv shows? They all suck. They all use the same boring format. None of these guys are innovating anything. They're using the same formula Carson was using in the 70's and 80's. It's lame.

Linda Stasi will need to write a new NY Post article after someone from Don Buchwald & Associates provides her with some bs reasons for why Howard "turned down" NBC's offer to take over the show and how lots of other deals are in the works for the ever-relevant Stern.

letterman and conan are talented enough to put on an interesting and funny show
ferguson works off the cuff and doesn't do the traditional monologue

And Howard let Stasi call into the show to plug her book two months before she wrote that article - an even exchange.
