This reporter, Warren Sharp, started looking at the number of fumbles New England suffered over the years. In 2007 they almost became "fumble free". It's a statistical impossibility. Prior to 2007, they were right in line with every NFL team in terms of fumble averages. After 2007 they change DRASTICALLY.

    What happened in 2007?

Here is the complete article and all the analysis:

    http://www.sharpfootballanalysis.co...iots-mysteriously-became-fumble-proof-in-2007

Essentially, they went from one fumble every 39 plays, to one fumble every 76 plays.

Also interesting is the fact the author of the report was unaware of the 2007 rule change prior to this study. After noticing the significant changes in 2007 he looked to see what made that change. It was only then he found out about Tom Brady pushing to change the rules.

but wouldn't deflated balls also help the team they are playing hold on to the ball as well?

if you play for the Patriots and fumble, you don't play anymore.

Every team now supplies their own game balls whether at home or on the road.

The only time the other team would handle a football that the Patriots like would be after a fumble or interception.

I am so fucking sick of "Deflategate". It is ruining the thrill of the Super Bowl.

The Patriots let air out of the balls to below the league minimum. Punish them and move on. It's not that big of a deal.

Yes, but only when playing the Patriots. The rest of the season they would be average. The Patriots get to choose their own balls EVERY game.

Exactly. The lack of Parriots fumbling has to do with Belichick and the culture he creates, not the balls the Patriots play with.

I don't personally care either way. I'm a Bears fan, so I'm going to be miserable regardless who wins the Super Bowl. :bigcry:

What do Chicago Bears fans and Back to the Future have in common?

They keep going back to 1985.

Yeah, other coaches don't care about fumbles.

The Pats have cheated for years, they should have received their penalty for the 11 balls a week ago and the NFL would look much better.

Comparing them to the average is meaningless. You need to look at them in relation to the other top teams. Could be that there are 7 or 8 teams that never fumble and a shit ton who fumble like faggots and bring the average way down. This is why idiots shouldn't try to analyze statistics.

If you are a browns fan I am not the least bit surprised that you don't see how leadership and coaching contribute to discipline both on and off the field.

If only football had some like, referees or officials to make sure that rules and regulations were being followed.

Well you got me there, I admit being a Browns fan its all that much fun. The Pats are a good team with a great coach. No question. They also cheat, even when they don't need to.

Still, read the article. The pats have cheated for years. The penalty should have been swift so Kraft et al wouldn't have made that insane pc yesterday that will make them look even worse when more proof comes out.
