On Feb 1, they can't wait to charge me over $700 for my Premium whatever-it's-called plus a 2nd radio and internet package, two-year recurring. (My bro is moving out of the country so the 2nd radio needs to be deaded.)

    No fucking WAY.

And I am not giving these cocksuckers my new credit card number- just a prepaid debit card #.

Should I threaten to cancel outright, or will these Mensa scholars comprehend:
    -- Cancel the 2nd radio
-- If you don't give me 5 months for $25, I am canceling my renewal RIGHT NOW

And what kind of reduced rate should I demand for the internet stream?

    Thanks

You should just donate those $700 to NSAL.

You might have to cancel first to get the offer. Otherwise they know you still want it and will not give you that deal.

    I cancelled back in December.
They (Sirius) were calling me several times a week to re-subscribe.
I'm now getting hit with emails to re up for the $25 deal.
I'm on the fence. I did like a lot of the other programming (channels).
But, I really don't miss it.

You find that unusual? I cancelled my newspaper subscription and the newspaper's marketing department called me numerous times until I blocked all the diff numbers they were using to call me. I cancelled my second Sirius sub in 2011 and I'm still getting e-mails several times a month to re-activate my radio for five months for $20 with free activation.

    1) Call and say you want to cancel your service for both radios.
    2) They will ask why you want to cancel and you tell them one radio is not in use, and the other you just don't listen enough to get enough value out of it. You think it's too expensive to renew.
    3) If you feel like it, throw in that you listen to Howard Stern and the show has been terrible for the last couple years just for shits and giggles.
    4) Right away, they will offer you a discounted deal.
    5) Don't take the discounted deal and say you just want to cancel.
    6) They will then offer an even better deal. If it's good enough, take it. If not, just go through with the cancel and within 1 month, you'll get a letter or e-mail with the $25 offer.

That's essentially what I did last weekend. I have SXM in 2 of my cars, and my renewal came up for $400 total! I called them up and told them to cancel both, and I poured it on about how much Howard sucks ass nowadays. Sandeep, I mean, "Bill," said he would note it, and gave me half off the price. It's the exact same price that I've been on now for 2 years, per "Bill," my promotional, reduced price has just been extended for another year.

I also echo what others have said about canceling due to the car being sold, people moving away, etc. About 3 years ago, I had a portable radio that I gave my then-girlfriend. We broke up (due to her batshit craziness, primarily), and one night, she came over to my house screaming, and promptly threw the radio up against my SUV, denting the fender, and smashing the radio to pieces.

I called SXM the next day to cancel, and had to tell them REPEATEDLY that the radio was destroyed and obviously inoperable. TO THIS DAY, I get renewal emails and mailings to activate that long dead radio.

Make sure you are not on auto renew. When I signed up both our cars after the free sub was up, I was under the impression that they would call before they renewed the subs. They didn't I found it on my credit card statement. I called and went apeshit on "Samuel" or whatever name they gave him. Told him to cancel my subs and internet. Before he let me cancel he wanted me to talk to another department. Talked to a regular white guy with no accent. He offered 2 subs and internet for $250 or something. I told him to go fuck himself. i currently pay somewhere around $150 for 2 cars and internet.

From the e-mails I get to activate my old radio:

If you no longer own this radio, please go to siriusxm.com/infoupdate , log in to your account, and select "Remove this radio from my account" located in the "Radios Not In Use" section.

I called up last month to cancel. My radio broke and I seriously was finished with the company. When I called up to cancel, and they asked me if I'd stay if they sent me a free radio and a year at half price. I stayed, but I have the year date down on my calendar. A day or two before my year is up, I'll call to cancel and they will offer me another deal to stay.

I quit listening almost 4 years ago and three or four times a month they still e-mail me the newest promotion.

I say you threaten to quit and blame The Howard Stern Show for wanting to quit....see what they offer you then.

Cancel first. When you get the cancellation person on the line, tell them you're quitting because everyone you know is getting the $25 package. If that person doesn't offer you the deal, wait a few days and call them up and tell them that you'd like to take them up on the offer they emailed to you.
