I just recently purchased a new modem thinking my problem would be solved, but i am finding that its not the case.

Can someone tell me why computers or devices can find an IP address no problem at times, and others for no reason i have to get up and reset the router?

It does not matter if a device is wired or using wifi, it can be fine for days then suddenly my PS3 or a laptop can not find an ip address. A reset of the router fixes this every time. How can this be fixed.

The new modem has helped the frequencey and my speed 50mbps.

    Thanks

Is this cable service? Your signal could be right on the edge of not enough. If you have a bunch of splitters, rearrange them so the modem gets more signal. Could be ingress as well Check all of your coax connections and make sure they are tight. If you have any crappy cables made with twist on connectors, get some decent cable and connectors.

Try updating the router's firmware, and then set it all up from scratch. Or get another router.

    I'm a plan B kinda guy.
