This is a very interesting video (a bit long) from a law professor who makes a great argument that you should never, ever talk to the police - no matter what, even if you have nothing to hide, even if you are completely innocent.

Simply say, "Thank you officer however I have nothing to say"

    Brief summary:

    - It can never help you. Everything you tell the police can and will be used against you, but not in favor of you - that part is hearsay.

    - A "he said/she said" case can easily become "he said... vs she said... and what the police testifying that you admitted to x, y and z"

    - Even if you're guilty and caught red-handed, what's the rush? Don't give away your confession without attempting to get anything in return.

    - The complexity of our laws is ridiculous, the statutes of laws is 27,000 pages long. You might admit something you think is harmless, but later turns out to help the prosecutor in some way.

    - You might say something that although 100% true, but it can hurt you bigtime with a jury, ex, "no, I never liked the guy, but I didn't killed him". There is your motive.

    - You might get carried away and say something under stress after four hours of testimony that you shouldn't have, "I didn't kill him, I don't own a gun, I've never shot a gun, I've never even been to Virginia Beach". Turns out you have been to Virginia Beach and you just got caught lying to the police.

    - The police can intentionally or unintentionally manipulate the interview. They can tell you in the hallway or in the car about a death by shooting and a few minutes later (now on video) they ask you about a murder and you say, "I didn't kill him, I don't own a gun, I've never even shot a gun". The police officer on the stand says, "I never mentioned anything about a gun, I only said murder - he was the one who brought up the fact that it was a shooting".

    - Even if you think you have a rock solid alibi, you don't know what the prosecution has and don't reveal your cards until you do. They might have a mistaken witness that says she saw a guy who looks just like you at a convenience store around the corner from the murder.

    - Many times, they have no evidence to convict you and will instead try and get you on a perjury trap - example, Martha Stewart.

Sometimes, I get nervous in front of authority figures and start giggling uncontrollably.

Can that be used against me?

In fact I took quite a beating for telling people to not take a field sobriety test or breathalyzer if they get pulled over. Just hand over your paperwork, and say and do nothing

    ???

Never do the sobriety test - absolutely. But if you refuse the BAC test you're fucked worse than a DUI conviction, automatic one year suspension and worse. Plus, they can easily call the judge on duty that night and get a warrant to force you to give a blood sample.

Are you paying attention to this advice Billy?

You're probably going to need it when you go to jail for child rape.
