    ...Is pretty solid.
Not sure if anyone is a fan here, but...

Highly recommended if you like music that doesn't suck.

Besides Lynne and perhaps Bev Bevan, why is it an ELO album?

It's not really. He bills it now as "Jeff Lynne's" ELO. He should have just billed it as a solo album and it'd be the same to me. But the quality of his stuff is just great.

seems awful to me, sounds like he abandoned the rich intricate production that made ELO unique

i was a big fan back in the day, bong hits and eldorado were a daily staple. imho sounds like he's just rehashing the same old stuff.

ELO is one of those bands I never realize I'm listening to, but when I find out it's them, I'm happy. Like that song "Living Thing" - for some reason I always thought that was Harry Nillson. Just recently I learned it was ELO and thought "Even better!"

Wasn't ELO always just Jeff Lynne's project? Or were they a proper working band at one time?

The end credits to "Boogie Nights" featuring "Livin Thing" probably the best ever use of music for end credit roll out in film history!

Loved ELO all the way back to when they were called the Move and Roy Wood was the leader of the group.
I like Jeff Lynne a lot. His productions seem to sound a like when he's producing various artists.
    But he's good.
Loved the Traveling Wilburys project so I'll give this a shot.
    Thanks!

Lynne detests Bev Bevan and most of the previous group members for touring as "ELO II" in the 1990s. They had a legal squabble and now Lynne tours as "Jeff Lynne's ELO." No chance for reconciliation. Keyboard player Richard Tandy is in Lynne's backup band, but that's all.

Note that Lynne sang all the songs, produced all the songs, owns all the publishing, and makes the lion's share of the royalties. It's almost like a "Paul McCartney & Wings" thing where the other musicians are basically just fillers.

Me personally, I would much rather see all the original people, but I think Lynne is a huge control freak and wants 100% of all the money. I think he's a very talented guy and enjoy his music very much, but I don't think he's an easy guy to be around.

BTW, anybody catch the rug on Jeff Lynne these days? I don't think Howard wears a wig -- I think he just has a receding hairline and is using "strategic combing" -- but Lynne is definitely sporting a big toupee. Very obvious.

I saw ELO at the winter garden in the 70s. I like them but I don't think the songs hold up as well as other 70s acts.

Man - i hate the music I have on my iPhone. I'm sick of it.

So, I appreciate the recommendation. Jeff Lynne was always an under appreciated artist to me.

    Thanks.

Howard: So Jeff, how did you write Dream Weaver?"

Jeff: "I didn't write Dream Weaver, that was Gary Wright."

Howard: "That's what my notes said."
