Saw noticed that Netflix recently added this film. I watched about 20 minutes of it and it's pretty fucking awesome (so far). Posting here because of Stern's long history with Mort...plus you can tell from watching the clips in the movie how much Mort's fake outrage, etc. influenced The Wig.

Actually saw him on tour years ago with my old girlfriend. He did his tv show on stage at a local theater. Was a big fan of his back in the day.

They show a lot of those live shows in the doc, which I highly recommend.

I remember when I first saw his show back in the 80s...I was just floored. The only other person I had seen on TV who was that angry and confrontational was Dr. Gene Scott--we used to watch that whacko all night long when I was in college. Mort was a fuckin' hoot. He might have stolen part of his act, but he was still an original and way ahead of his time.

To me the eighties were Mort Downey, Geraldo Rivera, World Wrestling Federation and the Jim and Tammy Bakker saga. Good times. Great tv.
