    :(

As the rotating stage turned around following a joyous set from Vampire Weekend, the opening notes of Stone Temple Pilots’ "Vasoline" filled the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater. On the drum riser, a man stood with his back to the audience until it came time to deliver the opening line, "One time a thing occurred to me." And with that, the venue exploded as Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington turned and leaped into action, filling in on this night for the recently fired Scott Weiland.

It took all of 23 seconds to listen to that video and come to the conclusion that it sucks.

STP has unfortunate luck. they are talented as shit but got stuck with an addict.

based on that clip, chester should stay in the studio. he sounds flat & off key. but scott has certainly shit the bed live too.

    but come on...

These guys are only relevant because all of the great 90's rock bands are dead/in the same boat. Cobain, Lane Staley, Shannon Hoone, Brad Nowell, Jim Ellison > Scott Weiland. Goddamned heroin and suicide...

not true at all, many fell but scott & Linkon park are still very good bands. I own many cds & not one nirvana or bee girl suited cd? not arguing but stating facts. hoone was a good kid with a problem, & staley died from his problems?:hat:

Fair enough, I just always felt STP were more of a pop/rock kind of band, and Linkin Park was that whole rap/rock scene and by then I felt like I was a little too old to get what the kids were hearing, so to speak. There was definitely a time where if you had shown up at an Alice in Chains concert with an STP shirt you would get your ass kicked, but these days they all get lumped into the same movement.

Lincoln park sucks, but it's nice to hear the songs sung somewhat decently since weilland can't sing anymore

Maybe it's time for STP to go on YouTube and look for a Philipino who sounds just like Scott.

At least Alice in Chains didn't go the publicity route and got someone who wasn't in a well know band. [IMG]

i saw STP about 2 years ago. fucking band is tight and rocked hard. scott was OK, sounded adequate, but the band is huge sounding for only 3 guys.

The relevance of these guys expired long ago. WGAS about guys in their mid-40's and up? I guess if you want to see them play their old shit for nostalgia, that's fine. But to expect new music from them to be anything special is silly. I crack up at the guys who anxiously await the next Metallica album. Time to move on.

I went to a Radio Fest in Philly over the weekend. Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Cheap Trick and Buckcherry. They all killed, and everyone was blown away by AIC. If anyone thinks that older bands can't still release new music that kills, pick up "King Animal" from SG, or "Black Gives Way To Blue" from AIC. Both records are monsters. :pissoff:

    He's off-key as fuck.

Not good. His voice doesn't sound right for this band.
