    an interplanetary ship has no need for wings and is an unlikely design. A cube would travel just as well through space as a sleek design.

    Yeah but once you hit atmosphere you need some control surfaces. they probably sent this one from the moon base.

    i figure that if you have control of the energies necessary for interplanetary or interstellar trips, you probably are not that dependent upon the winds to control descent in an atmosphere.

    you might just use the same energy shielding that prevents your ship from being turned into swiss cheese by the dust in space, to minimize the effects of the atmosphere.
