The law is the law. She's no more entitled to refuse straight couples than the Kentucky woman who refused gay couples.

They're both nutcases and both should be arrested for breaking the law.

We both know she will never spend a night in jail. Only those who don't believe in gay marriage get jailed.

The clerk is obligated to issue licenses pursuant to the law.

The Judge has the OPTION to perform marriages if she so chooses.

If the states would just stop issuing marriage licenses and issue permits for civil unions all these religious arguments would go away.

    Got anything more current?

The story was originally reported in 2012 when there wasn't marriage equality in the State of Texas.

Is she still refusing to marry heterosexuals now that same sex marriage is legal?

I think you are going to see states get out of the marriage license business, it's something that can be handled just by religious orgs
but that means tax and benefit laws may need to change.
I think this will go back to the courts, the Supreme Court ruling was not written well.

it will also be interesting how employers and insurers handle this

Marriage as an institution was killed a long time ago by divorce, women in the workforce, anti-abortion nut jobs taking spousal rights and privilege away and our lack of societal shame for having no morals or ethics.
this clerk has been married 4 times, committed adultery and had bastard kids, she should boycott herself if she wants to save marriage, she is just in it for the money

why would someone even want to work a a place they feel is immoral

Uh, they counted the votes 5 times and Gore lost every time.
And the Gore team only recounted the counties in Florida they wanted, not the whole state. And they wanted to count "pregnant chads" and other schemes designed to predict who the voter "really intended to vote for". Gimme a fucking break.
Unlike in Minnesota, where Franken counted the votes for 6 months until he finally won, federal election laws give you about 30 days- for a reason. The Dems tried their best to cheat, as usual, and were stopped. thankfully.
Maybe you've noticed- When Reps win, the voting machines are determined to be broken, or defective. When Dems win, those same machines, miraculously, are just fine. let's start the parade!

This was the straw that made me no longer faithful in our news media. Gore was the one that sued to overturn the electorate and gore was trying like mad to discount every bush vote. From selecting democrat heavy counties instead of a state-wife recount to the disqualification (I.e. Hanging chads). The whole recount was nothing but shenanigans on both sides. The Supreme Court was right in its decision. That it pissed off democrats into thinking they were robbed was icing on the cake.

The only problem with the decision was that it feeds into their agenda. The democrats can't win on merit, so they win on defeat. They always need a boogeyman to be present holding down their agenda. The democrats are the party of "everything would be be fine if people just listened to us/nobody argued with us/those pesky republicans weren't ruining everything...."
