So I was watching this documentary The Death of Superman Lives. They wanted to make Superman Lives with Tim Burton back in the late 90's Cool documentary. They signed on many writers including Kevin Smith. I heard about the movie but had no idea they got so far as using Cage and the storyboards and costumes. They film was approaching 200+ million and Warner Brothers said no way, it's just a mess and they canned it. They were putting out bomb after bomb anyway. Anyway thought it was cool to see.

Superman was going to be way different. Cage was going to have long hair as the comic did and instead of a suit it was going to be casual 90's wear for Kent. Crazy stuff. Jon Peters who is a nutjob and ridiculous with his movie ideas as a producer would've killed this movie. Probably better they didn't make it ha.

They were going to have so many different suits throughout the movie.

@LaserT were you distracted by the documentarian's constant nodding of his head? I had never seen more nodding. It distracted me like crazy.

Yeah, he did a lot when talking to Peters too. I think he was really so put off by Peters, like many are and he was shaking his head, like yup, so they are right what they say about you. :snicker:

What would've been the upper part of the "regeneration suit" on a costume worker. It had lights going all through it.

I saw the doc on showtime, it's on demand if anyone is interested. When I first heard of this project back in the day and when Kevin smith used to talk about it in his stand up, I thought is sounded like a real shit show and it was probably better off getting canceled. But after seeing the doc and the storyboards, pre production models and artwork and hearing what burton and the writers wanted to I think it might have been cool. Could it have been any worse than superman returns or man of steel? If you google 'superman lives script', Kevin smith's script is online to be read. I read a little of it a while back and I think the mayor of metropolis had the same name as someone from Clerks. He put an inside joke from his movies into a $200MM superhero flick.
