For all the ballyhoo around VH1 Classic rebranding itself as MTV Classic, the channel’s programming still doesn’t include very much music. In fact, most of the programming seems to date back only to the ‘90s, after the network began transitioning from actual music television to youth-culture oriented reality programming. If your nostalgic tastes run towards Pimp My Ride, The Real World, and Cribs, well, great, hunker down and binge. But if your trip is musical discovery, may I point you in the direction of the new streaming channel launched this year—to much less fanfare—by Night Flight?

My favorite things about night flight were the animations and old episodes of Space Patrol. I'm going to have to get that DVR fired up.

MTV classic does offer a fair amount of music programming.

They are replaying 120 minutes (although in 1 hour segments?). And they have classic video blocks. I've been playing it while I work. So much that my kid finally got pissed off "Are you going to listen to THAT all day?" sounded just like my old man. I felt like a teenager again.

Yeah, it showed some weird ass stuff (Warhol movies), even nudity before it got a little sanitized when USA went more mainstream. There was also a video show on TBS if I remember correctly.

That reminds me of "Liquid Television", my favorite MTV show as a teen. Raw and weird is always better than overproduced and boring.

Did Night Flight turn into the show that Gilbert and the Blonde chick with Enourmous tits hosted later in the 90's. I believe her name was Rhonda?

That was USA Up All Night, where they showed movies. I watched that all the time. I loved when Gilbert was the 5th Ramone. And I'd jerk it to Rhonda when the movie didn't have a hotter chick.

Yes it did. I've been looking for a long time a cartoon I saw on Night Flight. It was a soviet /American animation collaboration. Kind of a good will project. The premise was far future and giant aliens had taken over the earth and humans were kept as pets by their children. The humans have a rebellion with hooks and such. It was great.

    Definitely subscribing to this. :cheer:

And then there was Firesign Theater's J-Men forever. Splicing together and overdubbing old movie serials.
